Manufactured by American Motors General (AMG), and many other companies throughout Western Alliance space under license, the Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (Jolt) is the standard hoverjeep used by all branches of the modern United States of America Federal Armed Forces.  The Jolt is deployed on all American military bases throughout Western Alliance space, and has been built in numbers that even AMG cannot estimate.  Numerous Western Alliance member nations and many of the American State Guards also use the Jolt for their standard light infantry transport and tactical support.

The Jolt is capable of carrying four soldiers, cargo, and one power armored infantryman in full battle rattle.  They carry heavy armor to protect the drive and electronic systems that keep the hoverjeep running.  They also carry basic electronic jamming and targeting support that allows them to link up with assigned infantry units and share data.

The standard Jolt sports a basic M-220 Machinegun mounted in a Common Remotely Operated Weapon Station (CROWS).  Operated by the onboard Artificial Intelligence (AI) loaded on all Jolts, the weapon can fire in autonomous mode.  The weapons mount can be easily reconfigured to use other heavy weapons from the M-330 Rocket Launcher to the M-180 Rocket Propelled Grenade and everything in between.  It is common to see them firing M-301 Railguns and even M-256 Laser Cannons when the times call for such weapons.

The Jolt can maneuver on wheels or off, driven by a soldier assigned to it or by the onboard AI in autonomous mode.  It drives rough on wheels though, especially upon on initial landing, and it was that characteristic that gave the Jolt its famous name.  The suspension was a late edition to the design, and as it is expected to float on gravplating most of the time, a heavier duty suspension was never considered important enough to retrofit in.  The Jolt is capable of taking to the air and supporting grounded infantry with or without an operator, allowing infantry squads to bring their own tactical air support without relying on central command.

The Jolt is the primary light tactical vehicle of the American, and therefore the Western Alliance, ground forces.  Any action near such a base is expected to see many of these hoverjeeps in action, moving troops in fast reaction squads, bringing ammunition to depleted infantry squads, or acting as light tactical air support.  Wherever the Western Alliance goes, the Jolt goes.
